The Building of Santa’s Float

When the Lions Club formed a partnership with the Cobourg DBIA, once of the first order of business was to provide Santa with a new float.

With the materials provided by Cobourg Home Depot and The Cobourg Home Building Center, we were able to realize our dream. Under the direction of local builder Lion Hans Esser, chief engineer Steve Clancy and a team of Cobourg Lions members working over 2000 man hours to create this Santa Float which was very professional in appearance.

At the same time, the float was missing one important piece to the puzzle… “Santa’s reindeer”. A partnership was formed with the Campbellford Chamber of Commerce, who had reindeers, but no formal float. The two parades could now have a new santa float.

In 2009, a new sleigh was constructed with materials donated by Cobourg Home Building Center.
